About
Hello and welcome! Thank you for taking the time to see if we could be a good fit to work together. My name is Emily Cole-Rose (she/her) and I am a two-time graduate of Spring Arbor University, receiving my Bachelor of Arts in Family Life Education degree in 2009, and my Master of Arts in Counseling degree in 2015. I am a licensed professional counselor in the state of Michigan. I completed my counseling internship with Arbor Hills Psychological Services before going on to work as a home-based counselor for children, adolescents and families in the Jackson area. I have experience working in the field of adoption and foster care, and have also taught psychology courses at the college level. I returned to Arbor Hills Psychological Services in 2019 and currently provide individual therapy to children, adolescents, and adults.
Areas of Focus
I am a lifelong learner and strive to continually further my education on issues of cultural competency, diversity, social justice, and matters of equality to provide a counseling space that is welcoming for everyone.
My therapeutic process utilizes an integrative, strengths-based approach to provide individualized, client-centered care. I value the opportunity to develop a collaborative relationship with each client, and work with my clients to build upon their inherent strengths as we work together towards their treatment goals. In my therapy sessions, I use a variety of interventions such as stress management and relaxation skill building, motivational interviewing, and behavioral techniques to join my clients in navigating life changes and challenges.
My counseling experience encompasses treating anxiety and depression, adjustment disorders, gender identity, women’s issues, stress management, family dynamics, low self-esteem, and relationship issues.
