Kelly L. Tervol, M.A.
About
Kelly graduated from Spring Arbor University with a Masters in Counseling in 2012, and is a Licensed Professional Counselor. She graduated with a BA in Psychology and Fine Arts from Lourdes University in 2007. She has been working in private practice since 2014. When she is not in therapist mode, she spends time with her husband, their two energetic young boys, and two rescue dogs. They love spending time in nature: camping, being on the water, and hiking. For self-care, she finds reprieve in music, reading, creating art, gardening, and tending to her houseplants.
Areas of Focus
Therapy is a means in which all individuals have the ability to develop their connection with mind, body, and spirit. Kelly utilizes a whole-person approach and act only as a guide for clients searching for hope, meaning, healing, or development of the self. Her therapeutic style hinges heavily on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy in which the client develops their ability to activate new ways of thinking and behavioral shifts to improve mood and quality of life. She also reaches for other therapeutic styles to enhance each client’s individual needs. She believes everyone has the power to heal themselves and is humbled when clients ask for my assistance in guiding them to their truth. She works seamlessly with physicians, psychiatrists, teachers, parents, to advocate for her clients effectively. Her continuing education focuses have been in: expressive therapeutic interventions, trauma recovery, neuroscience, adolescent/ teen studies, and more. She has worked with a variety of clients, but her passion lies in helping teens, young adults, and the LGBTQI+ community.
